I went to Thailand for two weeks and put down my phone. I checked in with loved ones here and there, checked into flights, and edited some friends’ photos; but otherwise, I sent my phone to its digital grave. I brought a film camera and four rolls of 35mm film. I challenged myself to go analog, to compose my photographs carefully, and to experience the moments in between the lens. I’ve never seen a photograph that I’ve taken and thought that it was better than the actual moment – the eyes capture so much more than a camera ever will. So, I let my eyes live and seek and enjoy the time, the culture, the country; and the exposure was profound. My mind worked and rested and cleared itself in ways that it hadn’t in a while. So with that, welcome to The Analog Series.
